In the opening month of the Pennsylvania General Assembly’s new session, more than a dozen energy and environment bills already have been introduced and referred to committee in the Senate and House.
First action scheduled on Wednesday
The first action is scheduled for Wednesday (Jan 23) when the Senate Environmental and Resources Committee will consider Senate Bills No. 164, 196, 258 and 259.
Topics of the bills introduced so far in the Senate include gas mineral rights, the Environmental Quality Board, parks, recreation. and subsurface rights.
The House bills address a number of topics, including energy standards for state buildings, the establishment of an Adopt A River program, alternative fuels, natural gas drilling, and a $150 million bond issue for open space and flood control,
